William Lathrop (Bill) Hopkins, III

William Lathrop “Bill” Hopkins III, 71, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at St. Joseph’s/Candler. Born on February 2, 1952, at Telfair Hospital, Bill was the son of the late William L. Hopkins, Jr. and Louise Taylor Hopkins of Savannah, Georgia. 

After graduating from Beach High School in 1972, Bill eventually went on to work at his family’s chemical manufacturing company, Natrochem, Inc., where he would ultimately retire as Executive Vice President. 

A long-time resident of Savannah, Bill enjoyed relaxing on Tybee Island beach, boating, playing poker, traveling across the Lowcountry, and spending holidays with his loved ones. 

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Patricia Barry “Patsy” Hopkins, and his sister, Ann Hopkins Grady. He is survived by his siblings, Lloyd Hopkins, Barry Evans (Kim), Stuart Evans, and Trisha Evans Newitt (Scott). 

Bill maintained a close relationship with his late sister’s children and their families throughout his life. He is survived by his nephew, Ryan Grady, and nieces, Louise Taylor Kramer (Trevor), and Catherine Grady Lanier (David). 

Additionally, Bill is survived by a number of loving cousins, colleagues, and friends. 

Graveside service will be held for family and friends in Bonaventure Cemetery on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
